Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles but ONLY for basic world setting and reason for mutation. He has no knowledge of, nor exposure to, any of the characters from the series and exists completely independent from them.
BACKGROUND
Ishkode was born human on a First Nations reservation in the northern parts of Canada. At the age of six he was put into foster care and moved to a group home facility in the nearest big city. He was one of several children who were bitten by strange glowing bugs while on a school field trip. The bugs were carrying a potent mutagen which lead to his transforming into a flatback sea turtle.
He was immediately moved from the group home to a boarding facility made specifically for mutant children. Being little more than a place to keep these 'dangerous' kids corralled and out of the public eye, Ishkode was left with no real help to cope with the change he'd undergone and a whole new set of prejudices to face.
He grew up bitter and angry about what had happened to him leading him to a very troubled childhood and teen years full of bare escapes from prison. He finally ran away from the facility at the age of seventeen and has been on his own ever since, making his way through life best he can.
Ishkode is determined to one day change the world for people like him. Both for his Indigenous heritage and for his fellow mutants.
Even if that means tearing down the very fabric of society and rebuilding it from scratch.
